Sister Cities: Nation’s Only Top-First Tower Rises In Detroit

Chicago YIMBY continues its Sister Cities series covering innovative and skyline-defining projects in the Midwest with another trip to Detroit. We originally kicked off the series with coverage of the Hudson’s Site skyscraper earlier this year and we now return to take a look at the Exchange Building nearby at 338 Gratiot Avenue near Greektown. Developer and general contractor Barton Malow is working with global firms Thornton Tomasetti for structural engineering and Ghafari Associates on the architecture of the structure.

New Permits Issued for 1647 W Irving Park Road in Lake View

A new permit was issued last week for the construction of a four-story mixed-use construction located at 1647 W Irving Park Road in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Irving Flats LLC and plans indicate there will be first-floor retail space, eight total units spread across the remaining floors including a duplexed basement. The building facade will feature front balconies and two-vehicle and three-vehicle garages at the rear of the building.

Details Revealed For Affordable Housing Development At 7603 N Paulina Street In Rogers Park

New details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 7603 N Paulina Street in Rogers Park. Located on the northeast corner with W Howard Street, the multi-phase project will replace a large one-story commercial building and eventually a historical multi-story storage building dating back to the 1920s and its adjacent parking lot. Developer Housing For All LLC is leading the effort for the affordable workforce housing proposal which was designed by Cordogan Clark & Associates.
