This latest edifice to be added to the rapidly densifying neighborhood will provide a combination of ground-level retail topped by offices above. Despite its relatively low floor count, the high rise will compete in height with some of the other nearby projects at a height of 178 feet.

Iconic Art Institute Lions Removed for Cleaning

The Art Institute of Chicago’s lions were removed early Tuesday morning for a scheduled treatment. It has been decades since the lions were last removed for maintenance, and according to a release by the Art Institute, is a necessary step to preserve the iconic figure. While removed from their post, the lions will be high-pressured steamed, checked for corrosion, and given a hot wax treatment.

Landmarks Approves Rehab at 5200 W Chicago Avenue in Austin

The Permit Review Committee has approved plans for the rehabilitation of the Laramie State Bank Building at 5200 W Chicago Avenue in Austin. The rehab is planned as part of the Austin United Alliance which recently won the Austin Invest South/West RFP. The development is being led by Heartland Housing Alliance and the Oak Park Regional Housing Center.
