Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 3831 W Chicago Avenue in Humboldt Park. The project went in front of the Committee on Design earlier this month where the designers presented their concept to a panel of local architects. The new structure will replace an empty lot and three-masonry clad industrial buildings on the corner with N Avers Avenue. Developer 548 Development was present on the meeting along with designers Lamar Johnson Collaborative, both of which have had previous experience in affordable housing and Invest South/West proposals.

A full construction permit has been issued for a new three-story mixed-use commercial building at 1100 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market District. L3 Capital has planned to deliver 30,000 square feet of new retail and office space, whose containing parcel stretches along Randolph Street in parallel with 160 N Aberdeen Street which is now under construction. L3 acquired this parcel in 2018, previously occupied by a masonry private family office building. As per the developer’s website, all three floors of the future structure are still available for lease, with planned retail on the first and second levels and office space on the third level.

Permits Issued for 4537 N Clark Street in Uptown

Permits were finally issued this week for a mixed-use development at 4537 N Clark Street in Uptown. YIMBY previously reported on the controversial building in January when renderings were revealed. The permit indicates that the four-story build will have 14 dwelling units with three-bedroom layouts. The first floor will also hold two commercial spaces separated by the residential lobby. There will be 15 parking spaces at the rear of the building. Residents will have access to private balconies facing N Clark Street as well as a large rooftop deck.

At 350 feet, the tower will be one of the taller structures to rise as West Loop‘s development boom gains momentum. Initial Plans Revealed For Bronzeville Trail Parkway

Initial plans have been revealed for a new elevated park trail spanning the length of an abandoned Kenwood CTA tracks in Bronzeville. Plans for a recreation space on the aging infrastructure have been discussed as far back as 2005 and recently started solidifying with the creation of the Bronzeville Trail Task Force (BTTF) in 2020 to begin the community outreach and fundraising efforts to execute the concept. The task force is currently working on preliminary studies and budgets while seeking a formal designer for the project as well.
