A permit was issued yesterday for a new three-story residential masonry building located at 1838 W Grace Street in the North Center neighborhood. The permit’s owner for this build is listed as David Payne. Plans for this project indicate there will be six dwelling units. The building will feature front balconies and rear covered porches, as well as a basement level, and a rooftop deck. The property will have a six-foot-tall wooden fence and a six-vehicle garage at the rear. YIMBY reported on the demolition of the previous structure in January.

Update: City Narrows Down Casino Bids To Final Three

Updated renderings and details have been released for two of the five casino bids hoping to win as the city progresses to select a winner later this year. As plans continue to be flushed out leading up to the decisions, the bidders forge partnerships in hopes of impressing city council. YIMBY provided past updates on all plans in October and November of 2021 and this last February when McCormick Place expressed their concerns with plans using their site.

More Funding Secured For Affordable Housing Development at 2122 N Mozart Street in Logan Square

More funding has been secured to aid efforts for a development that will convert an existing church into affordable housing at 2122 N Mozart Street in the Logan Square neighborhood. This project comes by way of LUCHA, a nonprofit developer and this new round of funding is federally sponsored. LUCHA is one of 10 developers and community organizations awarded funding from Congress and is reportedly receiving $2 million in federal funds to convert a Humboldt Park Methodist Church into affordable apartments. According to a news release, LUCHA was able to secure this funding with support from Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García.
