Zoning has been approved for the new Belmont Cragin Elementary School located at 6100 W Fullerton Avenue in Belmont Central. Located in the southeastern corner of Riis Park, the site sits at the intersection of W Fullerton Avenue and N Meade Avenue. Public Building Commission of Chicago is the developer for the project, representing Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Park District.
Construction permits have been issued for a two-story frame church located at 3133 W Carroll Avenue in East Garfield Park. Filed under owner Burl Rose, the property had an ordinance passed in 2018 allowing for the previous zoning designation of M1-2 Limited Manufacturing Business Park District to convert to C1-2 Neighborhood Commercial District. The site is currently a vacant lot and once housed a single-story masonry industrial building.
The City of Chicago’s INVEST South/West initiative has selected the Austin United Alliance vision for the Austin RFP site. Located at 5200 W Chicago Avenue, the project site is a vacant lot and the historic Laramie State Bank building. Heartland Housing Alliance and Oak Park Regional Housing are the developers behind the proposal.
Cladding is well underway for Rush University Medical Center’s new 10-story cancer and neuroscience center at 850 W Jackson Boulevard. The project is named after Joan and Paul Rubschlager, whose donation not only helped fund its construction, but is also the largest in the institution’s history.
A zoning ordinance was approved last month for 2510 W George Street in Avondale, allowing the planned four-story residential building to proceed. Planned by Thomas Plunkett, the project will include four total units, a rooftop deck, a stairway/elevator enclosure, and an attached four-car garage. Currently, the property is occupied by a vacant lot. The now-approved ordinance requested a reduction of the required rear setback from 30 feet to zero feet.
