The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the adaptive reuse of the former Morton Salt Warehouse Complex. Located at 1357 N Elston Avenue, the former manufacturing complex is bound by the north branch of the Chicago River to the east, N Elston Avenue to the west, and W Blackhawk Street to the north. Blue Star Properties is developing the project in collaboration with R2 Companies.
Demolition is nearly complete for 800 W Lake Street, site of a new 21-story hotel in the Fulton Market area. In development by North Park Ventures, the building is set to accommodate 476 rooms as well as ground-floor retail.
Construction permits have been issued for a two-story residential building located at 5222 W Crystal Street in North Austin. Filed under co-owners GT Alternatives LLC and Kalistrate Kakhiani, the building will house two total dwelling units. Additional features include a rear porch, a detached two-car garage, and one outdoor parking space. Currently, the site is occupied by a vacant grass lot.
Final exterior cladding work is underway for 448 N LaSalle Drive, a boutique office development located in River North.
Zoning has been approved for a mixed-use development at 2700 N Pine Grove Avenue in Lincoln Park. The project is located at the intersection of W Wrightwood Avenue and N Pine Grove Avenue. The site is currently home to the Second Church of Christ, Scientist Chicago, who is leading the redevelopment plan for the existing church building in collaboration with developer Ogden Partners.
