The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the addition of an elevator to the riverwalk. The new elevator will be located at 65 E Riverwalk South, along the riverwalk between the N Wabash Avenue and N Michigan Avenue bridges. The elevator will allow for better accessibility, as well as aid in deliveries to vendors along the riverwalk. The City of Chicago is the entity in charge of the project, with Muller and Muller Architects in charge of the design.
Construction permits were recently issued for six adjacent townhomes at 3200 S Shields Avenue in Armour Square. Located just east of the Amtrak line, the residential development will replace a two-story industrial building that partially occupied the site prior to 2019.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved an updated mixed-use development proposal at 1528 N Wells Street in Old Town. The project is a 13-story tower that will rise 152 feet, holding commercial space on the ground floor, with 12 floors of hotel space above. The transit-oriented, planned development will replace a surface parking lot along N Wells Street, taking up the entire width of the block, up to N Wieland Street. Chicago Development Partners is the developer of the project, using Wellstel LLC as the owner LLC for the development. Pappageorge Haymes is in charge of the design for the project.
Photos taken yesterday show construction approaching the halfway point for a seven-story residential building at 236-238 W Division Street. Located in Old Town, the development is on the former site of a one-story Sammy’s Red Hots hotdog restaurant.
