Additional funding has been approved for two affordable housing projects as part of the city’s new bond program. This bond program was approved back in April, now the proposals at 1801 S Wabash Avenue and 4531 W Washington Boulevard will be the first to be financed by it. This first round of approvals will be contributing $20.5 million between the two.
Exterior work is nearing completion for a new condominium building coming to 2923 North Southport Avenue in Lake View. The four-story, three-unit project got a new construction permit from the city on January 17. The property sits mid-block just south of the six-point Southport/Lincoln/Wellington intersection. The Pavlovcik Architecture-design calls for balconies at the front and back of the building plus a rooftop deck. An attached garage accessed from the rear alley will have parking for three vehicles, and will be joined on the ground level by commercial space at the front, along Southport Avenue. An elevator is also included in the plans. McKinney Group is both the developer and the general contractor.

The Chicago City Council has approved the new community center at 6020 S King Drive in Washington Park. Dubbed the Sunshine Community Center, the new structure will replace a vacant lot on the southwest corner of Washington Park itself. The project is being led by Sunshine Gospel Ministries who would be relocating from their current location nearby.
