A permit was approved on Friday for a new three-story residential building to be located at 2219 W Foster Avenue in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. The owner is listed as 2219 W Foster LLC and plans indicate this project will yield three units and a detached three-vehicle garage with a rooftop deck. The development will replace an existing structure.
Chicago YIMBY deep dives into the Chicago Additional Dwelling Unit (ADU) ordinance six-months after its launch across various areas in the city. ADU’s have a long history not only in Chicago, but nationally and is seeing a resurgence as the demand for affordable housing and new ways to gain equity are increasing as well. The local ordinance repeals laws created against them over 60-years ago in select pilot areas and went into effect May 1, 2022 after being voted on late last year.
Exterior construction is wrapping up on a new four-story residential building under construction at 1526 N Wieland Street in Old Town. Planned by Halcyon Development and dubbed “W8 Old Town,” the project will offer eight total condominium units.
It was announced on Monday via press release that Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s $16.4 billion 2023 fiscal year budget was passed by Chicago City Council. The budget was passed with 32 in favor and 18 opposed.
Work is getting closer to completion for Structured Development’s Shops at Big Deahl Phase 2 in Near North Side. The overall $250 million scheme is oriented around a new urban park on an elbow-shaped parcel. Phase one of this project was the construction of a new three-story climbing gym known as Movement Lincoln Park. Situated at the east end of the property, this first component was completed last year.
