The Reed Ranks Fourth Place in Year-End Countdown

In fourth place in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown of tallest construction projects is The Reed, a 41-story residential high rise in South Loop. The 440-unit, 447-foot tower is being developed by Lendlease as the next installation in their Southbank masterplan. Situated under the address 234 W Polk Street, the project is the second tower to be built after The Cooper adjacently east, as well as two acres of parkland and a riverwalk running alongside the Chicago River’s south branch.

A demolition permit was filed this week for a three-story frame residence along with a detached frame garage located at 3533 N Greenview Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as EZMB LLC. Permits were issued in September for an upcoming single-family residence. The scope of the new project will include two stories and a basement, a rooftop deck, and a rear three-vehicle garage with its own roof deck. EZMB LLC is also serving as the demolition contractor on this project.

Onni Fulton Market Takes Fifth Place In Year End Countdown

Coming in at the fifth place in this year’s countdown is the residential development at 354 N Union Avenue in the Fulton River District. Contrary to its address the main entrance is reached off of N Halsted Street just south of the overpass with W Kinzie Street, having replaced an empty lot adjacent to the K2 residential tower easily seen from the highway nearby. Canadian developer Onni Group is leading the project with local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes having worked on its design.
