As the city progresses towards selecting a winner of the highly-scrutinized casino deal, more renderings and information have been revealed on the complexities of utilizing some of the city’s existing structures. The five bids submitted to the city last year span from near Goose Island to McCormick Place, come from three companies with hopes to create a gambling, dining, entertainment, and lodging destination that is unique to Chicago’s urban fabric. Facade Work Progresses for 1118 W Patterson Avenue in Wrigleyville

Exterior work is in full swing for 1118 W Patterson Avenue, a four-story residential building in Wrigleyville. The developer is Patterson Green LLC, a subsidiary of Repak Real Estate Development. The scope of this project includes total of 18 condominium units, two of which will designated as affordable. The unit layouts are for the most part standard, save for one major outlier. Nine units are one-bedrooms, falling between 598 and 910 square feet. Another eight are two-bedrooms between 782 and 1,479 square feet. The 18th unit will be a single residential unit occupying the entirety of the fourth floor and encompassing 6,252 square feet. The exact bedroom count for this final condo could not be discerned from planning documents.

Initial Permits Issued for Howard Brown Health Clinic at 3501 N Halsted Street in Boystown

Initial caissons permits were issued last week for Howard Brown Health Clinic which will be located at 3501 N Halsted Street in Lake View’s Boystown neighborhood. Structural work has now passed the ninth floor for the 41-story residential tower known as The Reed, located directly north of River City Apartments in South Loop. Under the address 234 W Polk Street, this new high rise is part of a large master plan known as Southbank. With Lendlease as the developer, this scheme includes the completed development “The Cooper” adjacently west, alongside a host of new public park spaces. Future plans include a pair of towers roughly the same height as The Reed, connected by a podium at their base.

New details have been revealed on the sale and renovation of an affordable housing project at 6430 S Stony Island Drive in Woodlawn. Located just north of the intersection with E 65th Street, the 1969-built structure was recently purchased by the Preservation Of Affordable Housing (POAH) for over $29 million from PNC Bank who has owned the property since 2015. The renovation gives residents a sigh of relief as the area directly across the street from the future Obama Presidential Center grapples with rising cost.
