A new construction home at 3709 North Oakley Avenue in North Center permitted in March now has permission to add a coach house with an Additional Dwelling Unit. The new home replaces a 1926-built masonry building addressed as 3711 North Oakley that was permitted for demolition in January. Real estate sites indicate builder G Alan Development purchased the property in 2024 for $820,000.
Demolition took place this past week on a single-story concrete block building on West Grace Street in North Center. And that means we could see the start of construction work on a five-story, 62-unit residential development imminently.
The residential development at 4309 North Lincoln Avenue has now reached its second of four levels in the North Center neighborhood. The property lies mid-block between Pensacola and Cullom Avenues, and was previously home to a small commercial plaza. Mangan Builders received permission to begin construction here in April for four stories and 12 units, with the permit citing a reported cost of $2.85 million.
Plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 2137 West Irving Park Road in North Center. Located at the intersection with North Hamilton Avenue, the proposal would replace a one-story drive-thru bank and a two-story residential building to its west. Efforts for the project are being led by Barrett Homes.
A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to allow for the construction of a residential building at 4009 North Oakley Avenue in North Center. That’s the former site of Chicago Joe’s restaurant, which was permitted for demolition on August 29, 2022 so the site, located on the northeast corner of Oakley and Irving Park Road, could be redeveloped.
