Community Development Commission Approves Mixed-Use Development At 201 S Kedzie Avenue In East Garfield Park

The Community Development Commission has approved the land sale and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds for the affordable mixed-use development at 201 S Kedzie Avenue in East Garfield Park. Going by the name ‘Garfield Green’, the two-site project located on the intersection with S Fifth Avenue recently received approval from both the plan commission and city council. Developer Preservation of Affordable Housing won the C40 Reinventing Cities competition in 2018 with structures designed by Perkins + Will and Nia Architects

Plan Commission Approves Retail Development At 939 N Rush Street In The Gold Coast

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a new retail building at 939 N Rush Street in the Gold Coast. Located near the intersection with E Oak Street, one of the premier retail corridors in the city, the proposal would replace an existing three-story structure built in 1957 that was most recently occupied by Italian fashion brand Brunello Cucinelli and has since moved next door. Developer JMB Realty LLC is working with local design firm Stephen Rankin & Associates on the new storefront.

New Permits Issued for 1822 N Howe Street in Lincoln Park

A permit was issued yesterday for the new construction of a four-story residential building at 1822 N Howe Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The owner is listed as 1820 Howe Development LLC, and the current plans indicate this project will yield a total of seven dwelling units. The second- and third-floor units will feature front balconies as well as private decks at the rear. This will be a striking build with a porcelain paver roof deck and pergolas; there will also be a detached eight-vehicle garage with its own rooftop deck. The development will replace a previous structure on the site which according to records, was approved for demolition in January 2021.
