The fifth of six tower crane jumps was completed over the weekend at the 400 Lake Shore North Tower in Streeterville. Five more 20-foot sections were added to the rig Sunday after the Morrow Equipment Company crew spent their Saturday anchoring a new tie-in on the 56th floor.
Two months after its tower crane was extended for the third time, 400 Lake Shore got another boost in height, its fourth of what will be six jumps in total. Construction crews from LR Contracting, BOWA Construction, and Goebel Forming have also poured concrete for the 47th floor of the North Tower at 462 East North Water Street in Streeterville.

AMLI Residential would like to erect a 56-story, 668-foot apartment tower designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz on the site, for now most prominently known for the Niketown store on the Magnificent Mile.
Further details have emerged about the upcoming Robert H. Lurie Cancer Center, set to rise at 333 East Huron Street in Streeterville. Developed as an expansion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the new tower will replace much of the long-vacant parcel owned by the hospital on the corner with North Fairbanks Court.
The construction teams at 400 Lake Shore jumped the tower crane once again this past weekend, adding six more shiny yellow sections to Chicago’s highest rig. The crane was last extended in May, and will rise in three more stages before it ultimately tops out. A half-dozen sections will be added during the next two climbs, while the sixth and final extension will add five.
