The approved two-tower development at 400 N Lake Shore Drive breaks into the top five in Chicago’s tallest developments countdown. Located on the former Chicago Spire site, the lot is bound by the Chicago River to the south and Lake Shore Drive to the east. Both the Zoning Committee and Chicago City Council have approved the updated plans for the project at 400 N Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville, allowing it to move forward. Work is nearing completion for the third and final stretch of Navy Pier Flyover, a 1,750-foot-long elevated bikeway/walkway that replaces a portion of the Lakefront trail near the namesake pier. Planned by the Department of Transportation, the project will reconcile the paths to the north and the south, previously encumbered by uneven terrain and water.
Recent photos show construction nearing completion for the final section of the Navy Pier Flyover, an above-grade portion of the Lakefront Trail that stretches close to third of a mile in length. Due to its staggered development timeline, the project currently serves cyclists and pedestrians via its completed first two phases, while the third phase alongside Outer Drive Bridge is still under construction.
Both the Zoning Ordinance Administration and City Council have approved the updated plans for a new development at 400 N Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville allowing the project to move forward. The newest proposal comes after multiple years of negotiations between the developer Related Midwest and city officials.
