Foundation work is progressing rapidly at University of Illinois (UI) Health’s new Outpatient Surgery Center and Specialty Clinics building, located in the Illinois Medical District. The six-story community facility from University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) will offer 200,000 square feet of new patient care space, including facilities for preventative and diagnostic care/imaging, minimally invasive outpatient procedures, and transplant surgeries.

Construction Permits Issued for 1822 W Foster Avenue in Lincoln Square

Construction permits have been issued for a four-story mixed-use building, located at 1822 W Foster Avenue in Lincoln Square. The development will replace a previously occupying masonry structure, for which demolition permits were issued in October.

The approved mixed-use, two-tower development at 725 W Randolph Street takes the 14th spot in YIMBY’s Chicago’s Tallest Development countdown. Plans comprise of a main tower that will rise 550 feet and a second tower rising 250 feet on a full-block lot along the Kennedy Expressway. The site is bound on the other sides by W Washington Boulevard, N Halsted Street, and W Randolph Street. Related Midwest is the developer in charge of the project.

The developer, filed under McBrearty Construction Company, is planning ground-floor parking and offices, with 49 apartments above. Construction has risen above street level at 300 N Michigan Avenue, located in The Loop. Planned to rise 523 feet, the tower will stand 47 stories above the intersection of N Michigan Avenue and E Wacker Place. The development is a result of the collaboration by Magellan Development Group and Sterling Bay.

This past January, the City Council passed of a key ordinance that would permit a 43-story tower at 906 W Randolph Street in West Loop. Presented documents from the City Council hearing show a height of 495 feet, ranking the building at number 15 in Chicago YIMBY’s countdown of tallest new developments.

Landmarks Commission Approves Demolition for 1020 W Randolph Street in the West Loop

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has granted approval for demolition of the existing structure at 1020 W Randolph Street in the West Loop. Located within Fulton-Randolph Market District, and the northeast corner of W Randolph Street and N Carpenter Street, the demolition of an existing one-story bank with drive-through will make way for the construction of a new five-story building with mechanical enclosure, penthouse, and rooftop deck. The development is being led by L3 Capital.
