Construction Tops Off For The Reed In South Loop

Core construction has reached its full height for a 41-story, 440-unit tower known as “The Reed” at 234 W Polk Street in South Loop. Developed by Lendlease, the tower is the second residential building within Lendlease’s seven-acre Southbank master plan. This project has also added public amenities to the area including two acres of park land and a riverwalk running alongside the Chicago River’s south branch.

Google Confirms $105M Purchase of Thompson Center

In a press conference on Wednesday, it was revealed that the state has reached an agreement with Google for the sale of the famed Thompson Center. Google will buy the entire building for $105 million following renovation by other organizations and the Thompson Center will be redeveloped as an office suite for Google’s workforce. Google welcomed its workforce back to offices in April and has expressed plans to add thousands more workers.

Demolition Permits Issued for 2713 S Union Avenue in Bridgeport

A demolition permit was issued earlier this week for a two-story multi-unit building located at 2713 S Union Avenue in the Bridgeport neighborhood. The owners have been listed as Nicholas and Samantha Chin. At the time of this writing, no plans have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there are no pending permits for any future constructions.
