A renovation permit has been granted for a new renovation at 37 S Wabash Avenue in The Loop. The project, owned by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), will feature a makeover of its fifth-floor library.
Facade installation is now wrapping up for The Reed at Southbank, a 41-story residential building located at 234 W Polk Street in South Loop. Developed by Lendlease, the 447-foot tower is part of the larger four-building masterplan known as “Southbank”, which was split off from CMK’s planned Riverline development to the south. The Southbank plans also include an extended Riverwalk and a small urban park at its center.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved updated plans for the residential development at 453-455 W Briar Place in Lake View East. Located mid-block between N Sheridan Road to the east and N Broadway to the west, the upcoming proposal will replace a pair of single-family homes from the early 1900s on the quiet one-way road. Developer GVP Development has been working with SGW Architecture on the unique structure which received City Council approval earlier this year.
A renovation permit has been granted for an existing residential building at 1424 W Winnemac Avenue in Uptown. The project aims to convert the existing six-unit residential building into an eight-unit development, with interior alterations including MEP for two additional dwelling units in the basement. The listed owner of the project is 1420-28 W Winnemac LLC.
Structural work has reached the second level for a new 21-story mixed-use building known as “Coppia,” located at 1101 W Van Buren Street. Developed by Pizzuti Development, this latest West Loop project will stand between two existing apartment buildings, replacing a previously vacant site. The new addition to the area will yield 298 apartment units and contain ground-floor retail.
