Pizzuti Development has been granted an initial construction permit for their proposed 21-story mixed-use tower at 1101 W Van Buren Street in the West Loop. Replacing a vacant lot of limited size, the new tower will provide a total of 298 new apartment units.
A permit was issued on Thursday for a new two-story residential building at 1007 N Hamlin Avenue in Humboldt Park. The owner is listed as GT Alternatives LLC. The new construction plans for the project include two units, a basement level, a rear wooden deck, a detached two-vehicle garage, and one additional outdoor parking space. The project will be replacing a vacant lot.
Chicago’s sixth tallest tower under construction is 360 N Green Street, a 24-story primarily office tower in Fulton Market. Planned by Sterling Bay and poised to stand 399 feet, the building will be one of the tallest to the west of the Kennedy Expressway. The base portion has seen significant progress in the last few months, with both the core and structural pieces already filling out much of the base section.
The Chicago City Council has approved funding for the CTA Red Line Extension across the South Side. In the works for nearly 50 years, the extension would bring much needed transit from the current terminus of the line at 95th Street all the way down to 130th Street near Altgeld Gardens by Lake Calumet. Hoping to spur new economic development and connect more people to the city center, the project is being spearheaded by the CTA with help from Muller 2 Architects who also worked on the O’Hare Airport Terminal 5 expansion.
Demolition permits have been issued for a two-story frame residence located at 4055 N Albany Avenue in Irving Park. The permit filing owner is listed as Hermitage View LLC. The property has RS-3 zoning and the neighborhood provides a mix of lower-density residential single-family homes and two-flat constructions.
