The committee on design is now reviewing two mixed-use high rises at 370 N Morgan Street and 400 N Morgan Street in West Loop‘s Fulton Market. Located on the west side of the intersection with W Kinzie Street, the multi-phase project will eventually see a third tower join it at 401 N Morgan Street on the northeast corner. The three towers are being developed by Vista Properties, whose plans will replace what is currently a mix of surface lots and existing one- to two-story industrial buildings just north of the Metra tracks. Gensler is responsible for the designs.
Permits have been issued for an upcoming mixed-use development at 2934 W Medill Avenue in Logan Square. Located just west of the intersection with N Milwaukee Avenue, the upcoming proposal will replace a long-term vacant lot bound by a public alley, the CTA Blue Line tracks, and a parking lot popular with local skaters. Developer Wilmot Properties is working with Chicago-based designers Hanna Architects who is known for their smaller scale projects across the north side.
A permit was issued this past week for a new three-story mixed-use building located at 1040 W Taylor Street in the Near West Side neighborhood. Julia Si is listed as the permit owner for this project. Pro Architect is the architect responsible for the project’s design. The structure will have first-floor retail space and two residential apartments spread across the second and third floors respectively.
Building permits have been issued for one of the first group of buildings from the mayor’s Invest South/West initiative at 757 and 838 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham. Located predominantly around the intersection with S Halsted Street, the two-structure project will replace two vacant lots, one of which has sat empty for over 10 years. Developer Evergreen Imagine is working with the award-winning local firm Ross Barney Architects and Nia Architects on the design.
Full construction permits have now been issued for 5200 W Chicago Avenue in Austin. The Oak Park Regional Housing Center and Heartland Housing Alliance have partnered to renovate and redevelop the historic Laramie State Bank building and an adjacent parking lot to the west.
