A permit was approved yesterday for a new three-story residential building at 630 N Long Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. The owner of the permit is listed as 630 Long LLC, and the current plans indicate this project will produce three total units. This will be a masonry build and will have open frame porches at the rear, as well as a six-foot-tall wooden fencing and three parking spots. The building will replace a vacant lot.

Funding Approved For Performance Arts Center At 4343 S Cottage Grove Avenue In Bronzeville

Funding has been approved for the construction of a new performing arts center at 4343 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Bronzeville. Located just north of the intersection with E 44th Street, the center will utilize an existing two-story masonry clad building on the Bronzeville Cultural Corridor. The project was conceptualized by local actor Harry Lennix who is working with developer Keith Giles, investor Mike Wordlaw, and local firm Nia Architects on the design of what Lennix envisions to become the “Black Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.”

Groundbreakings Announced For Two Fulton Market Projects

Potential groundbreaking have been announced for two Fulton Market projects after securing the land sale and anchor tenants this week. The two projects in question are the life sciences building at 400 N Elizabeth Street and the office building at 360 N Green Street, each led by different developers but delivering similar amounts of leasable space at each end of the quickly growing neighborhood. All together they will bring roughly 1 million square feet of new commercial space in an area poaching new leases at a faster rate than most.
