The City of Chicago issued a permit on January 31 to construct a three-story with basement, three-unit building at 4827 South St. Lawrence Avenue in Grand Boulevard. The permit shows an application date of May 20, 2024, and names Jacob Da Builder as the developer and general contractor, with an estimated construction cost of just over $1 million.
The prominent development sites at 601-625 W Monroe Street in West Loop Gate have officially been placed up for sale. Bound by S Desplaines Street to the west and S Jefferson Street to the east, the large lot was originally earmarked for a two-tower residential development split into subareas. With the plans being approved by the city in 2021.
Concrete cores have risen to the top, and now the rest of 1237 North California Avenue will catch up, as construction continues in Humboldt Park. The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit developer, is bringing 40 new residential units in a six-story building on the northeast corner of California and Crystal Street. Path Construction is the general contractor on the nearly $21 million project.
A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to replace a single-family home at 1124 West Addison Street with a two-unit residential building. The permit application was filed on November 12 of last year, and was issued February 5. It names G Alan Development Group as the developer and general contractor, and estimates construction costs at an even $1 million.
The demolition of the Tribune Freedom Center has been mostly completed at 777 W Chicago Avenue in River West. Located on the corner with S Halsted Street, demolition began over six months ago on the former printing facility on the Chicago River. Replacing it will be the new Bally’s casino, hotel, and entertainment complex.
