Details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 3122 W Belmont Avenue in Avondale. Located on the corner with the Kennedy Expressway and adjacent Metra tracks, the project will be replacing a small vacant lot with a wedged corner. Efforts for the project are being led by local developer Lukaven Development, who normally works on single-family homes.
Foundation work has started for a new residential building at 453 West Briar Place in the Lake View neighborhood. The five-story, six-unit condominium project is being built by Chicago’s GVP Development. They got a foundation permit back in November 2023, before receiving permission to complete the project in May of last year.
A demolition permit for a single-story building on North Seeley Avenue in Bucktown marks another step closer to the beginning of a new residential development for the site. YIMBY reported on 2350 North Seeley in June of last year, and now a permit to tear down the second of two buildings on the lot was issued by the city on February 6.
Funding has taken another step forward for the mixed-income development at 547 W Oak Street in the Near North Side. Sitting on the corner with N Larrabee Street, the new structure would replace a vacant lot owned by the Chicago Housing Authority within the former site of Cabrini-Green.
The sidewalk canopy on Lincoln Avenue hides much of the progress, but work is still getting done on a residential development at 3037 North Lincoln Avenue in Lake View. Promised Land Development (PLD Homes) is putting up a four-story, 15-unit building here that was permitted for construction on September 17 of last year.
