A mixed-use building under construction at 3122 South Morgan Street continues its progress in Bridgeport. General contractor Jian Xin Construction got a building permit from the City of Chicago on October 27 of last year, allowing for the completion of two residential units over a ground-level commercial space.
Edward Yung is named in the permit as the architect of record. The permit mentions a trash enclosure at the rear of the lot, but no garage. With two residential units being built, expect there to be at least one, if not two, slab-parking spaces off the alley if no garage is built.
Residents of 3312 South Morgan Street will live within a one-block walk of CTA bus service via Route 31 at Morgan and 31st Street; there is also a Divvy bike rack at this intersection. A two-block walk west leads to stops for the Route 8 bus at Halsted Street, which can be used to connect with the Orange Line train at the Halsted platform, about a mile northwest of home.
