Two Units Permitted On Empty Lot Next To Jefferson Park On The Lower West Side

A two-story, two-unit building has been permitted for construction at 1633 South Jefferson Street on Chicago’s Lower West Side. The location, a long-empty lot next to the recently-built Thomas Jefferson Park and playground, straddles the boundaries of Pilsen and the South Loop. The permit was issued on April 8, with an application date of February 7. It shows a reported construction cost of $3,303, which is probably not accurate.

2236 West Cermak Road construction permitted

Permit Issued For Six Units At 2236 West Cermak Road In Lower West Side

A new construction permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to build six new residential units at 2236 West Cermak Road on the Lower West Side. Issued on March 6, the permit allows an entity named PL 2236 W Cermak Rd LLC to develop a three-story building with a basement and rooftop deck. The approval follows an application date of September 10, 2024, and estimates construction costs at $1.4 million.

Building Approved At 1609 West 21st Place In Lower West Side

A new construction permit has been issued for the development of an eight-story apartment building located at 1609 West 21st Place in Lower West Side. The permit was applied for on May 20 and issued on December 17, after a processing time of 211 days, with plans designed by architect Gabriel Dziekiewicz.

Details have been revealed for the residential development at 2212 S Leavitt Street within the Lower West Side. Sitting just south of the intersection with W Cermak Road, the proposal will replace an existing surface parking lot just west of Pilsen. The project is being led by Teo Scorte of Green Street Property Management.

Additional Financing Approved For Casa Yucatan In Lower West Side

Additional financing has been approved for the affordable housing development at 2136 S Ashland Avenue in the Lower West Side. Set to replace a vacant lot across the street from Benito Juarez High School, the project has received approval from the Community Development Commission for $23 million in TIF funds. Developer The Resurrection Project is behind the project dubbed Casa Yucatan.

Sitting north of the intersection with W Cermak Road across the street from Benito Juarez High School, the proposal will replace a long-time vacant lot. ‘Casa Yucatan’ is being developed by The Resurrection Project with local-architecture firm DesignBridge providing the design.

Located just north of the intersection with W Cermak Road, we first covered the proposal in January which will be replacing a vacant lot across the street from Benito Juarez High School. Dubbed ‘Casa Yucatan’, the structure is being developed by The Resurrection Project who are working with local architecture firm DesignBridge on it.
