Concrete core rises at UChicago Medicine Cancer Care pavilion in Hyde Park

The concrete core is rising from the foundation at the University of Chicago’s state-of-the-art Cancer Center on its Hyde Park campus. The University and general contractor Turner Construction received a foundation permit on December 12 of last year. The “core and shell” permit issued May 9 of this year authorized them to build the core seen in the photos, which will rise nine stories in total, including one below grade.

New Construction Permit Issued For University Of Chicago Cancer Center In Hyde Park

A new construction permit has been issued to The University of Chicago for the University’s new Cancer Center at 5654 South Drexel Avenue in Hyde Park. The permit, which was issued for 5644 South Drexel Avenue, which is a part of the larger site, is for the core and shell construction of the eight-story medical center. It was issued on May 9 under the Traditional Developer Services process.
