Three More Greenline Homes Two-Flats Permitted For West 44th Street In Bronzeville

A Chicago developer that received permits to build four two-flat buildings on the first block of West 44th Street in Bronzeville in February 2025 got permits to erect three more this week. Greenline Homes is the recipient of the permits, which all show application dates of March 18. They came through just 13 days later on the 31st, with each permit showing a reported cost of $440,144.

Plans have been revealed for a new workforce training and community hub at 4417 South State Street in Bronzeville. Located on the corner of East 44th Street, the proposal would replace the long-vacant McCorkle Elementary School. The campus will be known as the Technology Renewable Energy Command Center Global Campus for Youth & Families.

A potential timeline has been revealed for Metropolis Pointe at 2601 South Martin Luther King Drive in Bronzeville. Located just south of McCormick Place, the skyscraper development would replace a large vacant lot adjacent to the upcoming Bronzeville Lakefront proposal. Efforts are being led by JC Griffin, along with Wight & Co. and Studio Barnes, which are working on the design.
