A pair of permits issued in March by the City of Chicago will allow the South Side Community Art Center to begin work on an addition to the Bronzeville building they’ve called home since 1940. A demolition permit issued April 1 calls for the removal of the coach house at the rear of the 1892-built structure, and a renovation permit issued March 13 authorizes foundation and site work for a three-story addition.

A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to allow for the construction of a four-story with basement, 15-unit building at 3645 South Michigan Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Developer Urban Edge Group got the permit on February 26; they will also act as the general contractor. The application date shows December 17 of last year, with an estimated build cost of $3.577 million.
