Eight residential units have been permitted for an empty lot at 4536 South Prairie Avenue in Bronzeville neighborhood of Grand Boulevard. The four-story masonry building will be complimented by a detached masonry four-car garage at the rear of the property, accessed from the alley off 46th Street. The permit was issued on April 16, just 37 days after its application was filed on March 10. It indicates a reported construction cost of $1.67 million.

A pair of permits issued in March by the City of Chicago will allow the South Side Community Art Center to begin work on an addition to the Bronzeville building they’ve called home since 1940. A demolition permit issued April 1 calls for the removal of the coach house at the rear of the 1892-built structure, and a renovation permit issued March 13 authorizes foundation and site work for a three-story addition.

Developer Pitches New Plans For Bears Stadium At Bronzeville Lakefront

Further renderings and details have been revealed for the potential Bears stadium on the former Michael Reese Hospital site in Bronzeville. Located just south of McCormick Place, the plans to pivot the former Bronzeville Lakefront megadevelopment towards a stadium are being led purely by the Lakefront’s developers Farpoint Development and Golub.

The City of Chicago has issued two permits to erect three-story, three-unit residential buildings at 4147 and 4153 South Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. The permits are identical, and issued on the same day, February 27, though one application was filed on October 29 of last year and the other on October 31. The estimated cost for each building is $450,000.

3645 South Michigan Avenue construction permit

A permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to allow for the construction of a four-story with basement, 15-unit building at 3645 South Michigan Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Developer Urban Edge Group got the permit on February 26; they will also act as the general contractor. The application date shows December 17 of last year, with an estimated build cost of $3.577 million.

12-20 West 44th Street construction permits

Four construction permits have been issued for the first block of West 44th Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood, with each allowing work to begin on new two-flat residences. All four permits were issued on February 14, assigned to 12, 16, 18, and 20 West 44th Street, with application dates of January 20, 2025, and each of the four permits are identical.

Details Revealed For South Side Community Art Center Expansion In Bronzeville

Details have been revealed for the renovation and expansion of the South Side Community Art Center at 3831 S Michigan Avenue in Bronzeville. Located just north of the intersection with E Pershing Road, the center currently operates out of a historic mansion with a vacant side yard. Design efforts are being led by Future Firm, with wrkSHäp serving as the preservation architect.

Yesterday, we were introduced to a pair of three-story, three-unit buildings coming to the 4200 block of South Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. On Wednesday, January 15, three more permits were issued for the same development team of APMW Development Corporation and architect of record Charles Schwartz to build nine more units in the 4100 block of South Calumet.

4208 South Calumet Avenue construction permitted

First Of Two Three-Flats Permitted For Construction At 4206-08 South Calumet In Bronzeville

The first of two three-unit buildings to be built at 4206-08 South Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville has been permitted by the City of Chicago to begin construction. The permit for 4208 South Calumet, applied for on October 30 of 2024, was issued on January 13. It calls for a three-story masonry structure with a rooftop deck and stair enclosure.

Fourth Six-Flat Permitted For Empty Lot At Indiana Avenue And 40th Street in Bronzeville

The city of Chicago has issued a new construction permit for the fourth and final parcel on a vacant lot in Bronzeville. 3954 South Indiana Avenue, permitted on January 13, joins 3944, 3948, and 3950, with those three having received permission back in December 2024.
