A new construction permit has been issued for a 3-story, 3-unit residential building at 4634 S Langley Avenue in Bronzeville. The owner, JacobDaBuilder is behind the project, which includes a rear patio on the first floor, and a rear porch with stairs on the second and third floors. Three exterior parking spaces will also be added to the property. Hanna Architects‘ design for the project has not yet been revealed.

Updated details and rendering have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 641 E 47th Street in Bronzeville. Located west of the intersection with S Langley Avenue, we first covered the proposal back in November of last year as it received City Council approval. Now it has returned with a slightly updated program and look, as it aims to replace a one-story commercial building owned and operated by the project’s developer. That would be Yasmin Curtis who runs the Two Fish Crab Shack restaurant that occupies it who selected local architects Future Firm for the design.

President Biden Set To Sign Creation Of The Bronzeville-Black Metropolis National Heritage Area

The upcoming bills set forward to designate a large portion of the South Side predominantly around Bronzeville as a National Heritage Area will now be signed by President Biden. The two bills H.R. 670 and S.511, which we covered in greater detail exactly a year ago as they were introduced for review by a subcommittee of the National Parks Service, received the necessary legislative votes and will now make their way to the president’s desk. The bills were introduced by US Representative Bobby Rush and Senator Dick Durbin early last year.
