Sitting on the corner of South Blackstone Avenue, the building has been vacant for several years and is located near the upcoming Obama Presidential Center. The project is being led by Greenline Communities and 5T Development Partners.
A permit was issued by the City of Chicago on December 15 to begin construction at 6541 South Maryland Avenue in Woodlawn. Calling for a three-story, three-unit residence, the permit shows an application date of October 10, 2025, and it came through with a reported cost of $450,000.
A busy South Side development team has landed permission for another multi-unit residential building in the Woodlawn neighborhood. A permit came through from the City of Chicago on December 9 allowing the entity of Bronzeville 777 LLC to construct a two-story plus basement, three-unit development at 6340 South Ingleside Avenue. They filed their application on July 22, with the permit citing a reported cost of $722,400.
A three-flat was permitted by the City of Chicago for construction at 6423 South Rhodes Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side. The permit had been pending in the Chicago Data Portal for just over two months, and it came through with a reported cost of $450,000.
