Renderings have been revealed for the upcoming first phase of Woodlawn Central, located at roughly 6320 South Dorchester Avenue. While the project was originally proposed four years ago, the development team unveiled the current plans for phase one earlier this month as they prepare to move forward. Said team is being led by the Apostolic Church of God, which owns the sites.
A permit issued by the city on January 12 will allow for the construction of a two-flat residential building at 6409 South Eberhart Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Sunshine Gospel Ministries, who applied to build on the vacant lot on September 25 of last year, is the recipient of the permit, which came through with a reported cost of $450,000.
Plans have been revealed for a new affordable senior housing building at 6151 South University Avenue in Woodlawn. Located at the corner of East 62nd Street, the proposal would replace a large vacant lot owned by the project’s developer, Woodlawn Baptist Church, since 1982. The development will be known as WBC Manor.
A zoning application has been submitted for the first phase of the Woodlawn Central development at 6230 South Dorchester Avenue. Located just southwest of the upcoming Obama Presidential Center, we initially covered plans for the sprawling campus exactly four years ago. The multi-site plan would replace a collection of parking lots and vacant parcels.
Initial details have been revealed for the residential conversion of the former Loretto Academy School at 1435 East 65th Street in Woodlawn. Sitting on the corner of South Blackstone Avenue, the building has been vacant for several years and is located near the upcoming Obama Presidential Center. The project is being led by Greenline Communities and 5T Development Partners.
