A $600,000 permit issued on Thursday, October 15 allows for the construction of a four-story, six-unit residential building at 6156 South Champlain Avenue in Woodlawn. The permit had spent a mere 15 days in the Chicago Data Portal since its application start date of September 30 when it came through. The homes it authorized will fill a long-vacant lot on the northwest corner of Champlain and East 62nd Street.

The permit names Barton Ritchey as the property owner, with Lorenzo’s Home Improvement Service of Berwyn listed as the general contractor and Michael Ryan of McHenry named as the architect of record. Thursday’s permit tells us only that the building will not be sprinklered and will be of Type III-B construction with Type R-2 occupancy. No other details are included.
