Permission has come through for a developer to construct a three-story, six-unit residential building in the 5300 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. An entity of “5321 S Calumet Trust” received the permit on April 17, after filing an application on March 5th. The permit indicates a reported construction cost of $750,000.

Site context, via Google Maps
The development site spans 5323-5325 South Calumet Avenue, a long-vacant lot. Danny’s Construction Group of Lemont is the general contractor, and Peter Sterniuk is the architect of record. Details include balconies and a five-foot fence surrounding the homes, and six surface parking spaces at the rear of the lot. An alley connecting 53rd and 54th Streets leads to the parking area. The empty parcel continues south to the existing residence at 5331, but there are no pending permits in the Chicago Data Portal to fill that gap.
