The currently construction will be for Phase 03A, which will stand four stories and adjoin an existing medical facility finished in 2015. The subsequent Phase 03B will elevate the structure by adding six more levels, which includes a mechanical level atop five stories of medical space. The new floor space will provide added capacity for surgeries, breast imaging, and oncology services. For this initial phase, there will be 54,000 square feet of designated outpatient care and 11,000 square feet of operating rooms.

SmithGroup is the architect behind the 150-foot project, whose architecture and materials echo those of its connecting neighbor. The curved design will be clad in a mix of glass, light-toned metal, and masonry. The final height once Phase 03B is added will be 241 feet.

This extension is part of a broader $645 million plan to infuse the campus with an additional 332,780 square feet and refurbish 260,493 square feet of hospital space. There will be a focus on adding private rooms, leading to a decreased total bed count in the facility from 397 to 326.

There are no current plans to include additional parking for Phase 03A. The expansion is located directly north of Wellington Station, with service for the Brown and Purple Lines. Belmont Station, which offers Brown, Purple, and Red Lines service, is a five-minute walk north. The 8, 22, 76, and 77 buses are all within a ten-minute walk.

Turner Construction Company is serving as the general contractor. The targeted completion for Phase 03A is set for 2025, and the overall expansion is expected to wrap up by 2030.
