Part One: Full Details Revealed For LaSalle Street Reimagined

Full details have been revealed for the six finalists of the city’s LaSalle Street Reimagined in The Loop. Announced last year the program is looking to distribute $196 million in city funds from the LaSalle Central TIF District for redevelopment projects along the street, bound by W Van Buren Street to the south and W Washington Street to the north. After receiving nine-bids for buildings who are struggling with high vacancy rates, it was narrowed down to six which were presented at a community meeting last week.

Interior demolition permits have been issued as the first step in a double-restaurant renovation at 1235 W Grand Avenue in West Town. The project involves the removal of non-load bearing partitions, ceiling tiles, cabinetry, counters, and kitchen equipment as needed to prepare for the renovation and alteration of the spaces. The work will affect the basement, first floor, and second floor of the three-story brick building.

Cladding Nears Completion for The Row in Fulton Market

Facade work is in the final stretch for a new 43-story mixed-use tower known as “The Row,” now officially addressed as 164 N Peoria Street in Fulton Market. Developed by Related Midwest, the 495-foot-tall edifice is the West Loop’s second-ever skyscraper (above 150 meters / 492 feet in height), with the first being 727 W Madison Street, built in 2018. The $200 million project will feature 300 residential units, of which 60 will be affordable, and a 146-vehicle garage embedded within the podium.

Funding Partially Approved For Motor Row Redevelopment

Funding has been partially approved for the mixed-use redevelopment of 2222 S Michigan Avenue within the Motor Row District. Located a few buildings south from the intersection with E Cermak Road, the project will restore the existing block-deep building while giving it a new program as the area near McCormick Place continues to see a rebound from 2020. Developer Hudson Michigan Avenue LLC is behind the proposal along with local-design firm FitzGerald.
