Initial Details Revealed For Affordable Housing at 2140 S Ashland Avenue In Heart Of Chicago

Initial details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 2140 S Ashland Avenue in Heart of Chicago. Located on the intersection with W 21st Place and across the street from Benito Juarez High School, the new proposal will replace a vacant lot near the industrial heart of the predominantly Latin neighborhood right on the border with Pilsen. The project comes to us from local developer The Resurrection Project with various affordable developments nearby. At the moment, an architect is unknown.

Retail Program Approved For LaSalle Street In The Loop

Initial plans have been approved for a new program to revitalize the retail scene along LaSalle Street in The Loop. Riding the wave from the recently announced bids for the city’s LaSalle Street Reimagined initiative, the new program looks to address the vast amount of vacant retail and commercial spaces fronting the once-packed street. Introduced by Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the program will tap into local TIF’s and serve the same area bound by W Washington Street to the north and W Van Buren Street to the south.

Updated Plans Revealed For 5853 N Broadway In Edgewater

Updated plans have been revealed for the affordable residential development at 5853 N Broadway in Edgewater. Located south of the intersection with W Thorndale Avenue and adjacent to the Broadway Armory Community Center, the new structure will replace a one-story building and its parking lot with much needed vertical density. We last covered the project in April of last year as its initial design was released, now an updated design has been made public of the proposal by Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation, with Landon Bone Baker Architects working on the new aesthetic.
