Renderings have been revealed for the new Skokie Valley Synagogue renovation, located at 8825 E Prairie Road in Skokie. Located along E Prairie Road, the renovation project will upgrade and revitalize the synagogue built in 1960 to better serve the local Orthodox community and reflect the congregation’s values.
Renovation work is well underway and approaching completion at the base of 500 N Michigan Avenue, which is located along Magnificent Mile, aka Michigan Avenue, just north of the river. Skidmore Owings & Merrill originally designed this 24-story modernist structure, completed in 1968.
Construction permits were issued earlier this month for a mixed-use building at 6340 W Belmont Avenue, located in Dunning. The structure, with an undisclosed floor count, will contain ground-floor retail space with 24 dwelling units on the levels above. The development will also include 170 feet of fencing and 12 exterior parking spaces. Multiple owners have been included in the filing, including Bartlomiej Przyjemski and Mia Property Acquisitions, LL. The owners have also planned a 12-car attached garage, as well as an additional 12 exterior parking spaces.
The Permit Review Committee, a subcommittee of the Commission on Chicago Landmarks, has approved a proposed nine-story mixed-use building at 4601 N Broadway in Uptown. Located on a corner site at the intersection of N Broadway and W Wilson Avenue, the project is a transit-oriented development sitting across the street from the newly renovated Wilson CTA L station, serviced by the Red Line.
