Plans Revealed For Mixed-Use Tower At 1300 W Lake Street

Plans have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 1300 W Lake Street in the West Loop. Located on the northwest corner with W Lake Street the proposal continues to grow the neighborhood’s skyline west and will replace an existing two-story commercial building and its adjoining parking lot. Developer Loukas Development is working with local design firms bKL Architecture, Confluence, and DLA Piper on the new high-rise to be presented in front of the Committee on Design next Wednesday.

Permits Issued for 1439 W Winona Street in Uptown

Construction permits have been issued for a new residential development at 1439 W Winona Street in Uptown. The project is a three-story building with a basement, containing three dwelling units, and an occupiable rooftop on the third story. There is also a detached three-vehicle private garage.

First Permit Issued for Englewood Connect Firehouse Renovation

The first renovation permit has been issued for the old Engine Company 84, Truck 51 firehouse at 6204 S Green Street in Englewood. The rehabilitation is the first phase of a 4.28-acre culinary hub and event center oriented around healthy living, led by developer Englewood Connect LLC and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.

Initial TIF Granted For South Shore Mixed-Use Development

Funding has been partially approved for part of the mixed-use development centered at 2935 E 79th Street in South Shore. Located on the corner with S Exchange Avenue in front of the Cheltenham/79th Street Metra station, the multi-lot project will redevelop a pair of existing buildings and create new opportunities for home ownership. Dubbed ‘Thrive Exchange’, developer DL3 Realty is working with KOO Architects and Site Design Group on the design of the proposal which won a 2021 Invest South/West RFP.

Facade Takes Shape at 732 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market

Brickwork can now be seen at Fulton Market‘s 732 W Randolph Street, where a new nine-story commercial addition is taking shape. Developed by Samuel Oliva, this nine-story structure will offer 6,000 square feet of office space on each of the next seven levels, with retail on the first floor and tenant amenities on the ninth floor.

Permits Issued for New Mixed-Use Building in East Pilsen

Construction permits have been issued for a new mixed-use building located at 1705 S Canal Street in East Pilsen. The four-story structure will feature a 168-car, ground floor parking garage, retail spaces on the second and third floors, a restaurant on the third floor, and a bar on the fourth floor. According to the filing, the development is being spearheaded by New Chinatown Real Estate.

160 N Morgan Street Nears Full Height in Fulton Market

Construction is nearly complete for 160 N Morgan Street, a 30-story mixed-use tower located in Fulton Market District. Developed by Sterling Bay and Ascentris, the tower boasts a height of 350 feet and will provide 282 for-rent apartments atop two levels of retail. The development is set to offer a mix of residences, ranging from studios to two-bedroom floor plans. Furthermore, 28 of the on-site units will be designated as affordable housing.

Permits Issued for 2908 W Lyndale Street in Logan Square

Construction permits were recently issued for a three-story residential development at 2908 W Lyndale Street in Logan Square. Filed under the name 2906 West Lyndale LLC, the project will offer of a rooftop deck, a rear porch, a basement, and a three-car detached garage topped with a rooftop deck. Prior to development, the site was occupied by a one-story frame residential building.

Permits Approved For Affordable Mixed-Use Development In Englewood

Initial construction permits have been approved for the first phase of the mixed-use Thrive Englewood development at 914 W 63rd Street in Englewood. Located on the corner with S Halsted Parkway near Kennedy-King College, the multi-phase project received City Council approval late last year and is now one step closer to breaking ground. Developer DL3 Realty has worked on similar projects nearby including the recently announced Washington Park National Bank building, and is working with Perkins + Will on Thrive’s design.

Steel Tops Out for UIC Computer Science Building in Little Italy

The University of Illinois Chicago’s new Computer Design Research and Learning Center continues to make significant progress, with its steel frame now at full height. Located at 900 W Taylor Street at the southern end of the main campus in Little Italy, the five-story addition will be adjacent to the existing Science and Engineering Labs building.
