Renovation work is approaching completion for a two-story commercial building at 942 W Randolph Street, located in West Loop. The occupying owner, filed under Michael Bisbee in the project’s renovation permits, is planning to repurpose the former masonry warehouse to a large assembly restaurant, spanning over 14,000 square feet in total. The development will also host a street-facing outdoor patio on the second floor.

Permits Issued for 5528 W Gettsyburg Street in Jefferson Park

Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building at 5528 W Gettysburg Street in Jefferson Park. The owner, filed under 5249 Milwaukee LLC, plans three residences for the building, as well as parking for seven vehicles. The permit’s corresponding property appears to match that of 5241-49 N Milwaukee Avenue, whose owners in 2018 had requested a zoning ordinance to convert the zoning designation from B3-1 to B2-3. However, this past proposal listed four total units and eight parking spaces, suggesting that the project scope has since been updated.

Countdown’s 23rd Tallest 354 N Union Avenue Awaits Construction in Fulton River District

Work has yet to commence for 354 N Union Avenue, a 32-story residential building located in Fulton River District. Ranking at number 23 in YIMBY’s end-of-year countdown of tallest new developments, the building is poised to stand 410 feet high at its pinnacle.

Zoning Approved for Four-Story Residential Building at 1638 N Sedgwick Street in Old Town

The Zoning Board of Appeals has granted a new zoning ordinance for a proposed four-story residential building at 1638 N Sedgwick Street, located in Old Town. Planned by Greif Properties, Inc, the development will house three condominium units as well as a basement level. Additional components include a three-story rear staircase, a rooftop deck/enclosure, and a two-car parking pad.

Approved 33-Story Tower at 344 N Canal Street is Chicago’s 24th Tallest Development

Taking the 24th spot in YIMBY’s countdown of Chicago’s tallest developments, the approved tower at 344 N Canal Street will rise 375 feet above its site in the Fulton River District. The project is located on the west side of N Canal Street between W Kinzie Street and W Fulton Street. The lot is an irregular shape with spurs that extend to N Clinton Street, around a railroad abutment. The new development will replace the existing Cassidy Tire building.

Demolition Prep Begins for 20-Story Tower at West Loop’s 166 N Aberdeen Street

Demolition permits have been issued for a pair of low-rise masonry buildings, paving the way for a new 20-story tower at 166 N Aberdeen Street. The building will stretch 220 feet to roof and 241 feet to the parapet, making it one of the taller buildings in West Loop.

29-Story Tower at 1130 N State Street Awaits Approval, Ranks 25th in Chicago’s Tallest Developments

Taking the 25th spot in our countdown of Chicago’s tallest developments, an updated proposal for a 29-story mixed-use tower at 1130 N State Street in the Near North Side awaits approval. The property is located on a corner lot at the intersection of N State Street and W Elm Street, and would replace the existing shuttered Barnes & Noble store. The Clark/Division CTA L station, serviced by the Red Line, can be accessed within a four-minute walk. The 36 CTA bus route can be accessed on the corner of the site at the State and Elm stop. Newcastle Limited is in charge of the project.
