Significant facade progress has been made for a new four-story mixed-use project at 3355 N Southport Avenue in Lake View, where it is replacing a former two-story building. This transit-oriented development, undertaken by Harris Properties, will feature approximately 3,700 square feet of commercial space, along with six residential units above. The retail component will be distributed between the ground floor and a basement level.
Updated plans have been disclosed for the mixed-use development at 420 N May Street in the West Loop. Crescent Heights, a Miami-based developer and the same team responsible for NEMA in the South Loop, has submitted the project for the upcoming Plan Commission meeting. The HPA-designed project is set to replace a cluster of small buildings on the corner with W Kinzie Street.
Construction has finalized for a new four-story building at 4537 N Clark Street in Sheridan Park, located near the intersection with W Wilson Street. The project, led by Longford Construction as both the developer and architect, replaces former one-story and two-story retail buildings. Initially proposed in 2017, the plans have undergone several revisions and experienced a change in ownership, prompted by community feedback.
The mixed-use development at 1131-1135 W Winona Street in Uptown, known as ‘The Sally,’ is progressing with construction already completed for 1135 W Winona Street and facade work underway for 1131 W Winona Street. Developed by Cedar St. Companies, The Sally comprises two five-story buildings, collectively offering 180 units ranging in size from studios to two-bedroom configurations, including 37 affordable residences. This complex represents the second phase of ‘The Draper,’ the initial phase of which houses 342 units and is located just south at 5050 N Broadway.
Additional funding has been approved for the new BandWith Chicago headquarters at 134 S California Avenue in East Garfield Park. The non-profit organization will be redeveloping an existing industrial building bound by W Wilcox Street to the north and W Adams Street to the south. The organization itself is leading the development with Lamar Johnson Collaborative working on its design.
