Construction has begun on the residential development at 2234 West Grand Avenue in West Town. A demolition permit was issued for the Rainbow Art, Inc building previously on the site in late February. It was torn down very quickly, allowing developer and general contractor Panoptic Group to get started on foundation work. Construction approval was received on March 7, at a reported build cost of $6.5 million.

At 2307 West Foster Avenue, DV Development, performing both developer and general contractor duties, has the building up to its final height. They received a permit to begin construction in December 2024, but demolition wasn’t permitted until January 9 of this year. With the help of demo contractor Conrad Roofing of Illinois, Inc., they got a lot done in a short period of time.

Residential Construction Permits Issued For 6517 And 6519 South Langley Avenue In Woodlawn

Two new construction permits were issued on March 26 by the City of Chicago allowing construction to begin on a pair of two-flats in the Woodlawn neighborhood. Permissions were granted to developer and general contractor McNamara Builders to erect two-story with basements, two-unit buildings at 6517 and 6519 South Langley Avenue. The permits show an application date of June 17, 2024, and a reported construction cost of $400,000 for each building.
