Facade Restoration and New Stair Towers Progress at Lawson House in Near North Side

Exterior work continues to progress on the Victor F. Lawson House, a historic 24-story building at 30 W Chicago Avenue in the Near North Side. Originally designed by Perkins, Chatten & Hammond and completed in 1931, the former YMCA will be transformed by developer Holsten Real Estate into 408 affordable studio apartments. Since the last article on the project, structural work for the new fire egress and elevator towers has taken shape, while windows and facade restorations continue.

1065 N Paulina Receives Permit in East Village

A construction permit been issued for a three-story residential building at 1065 N Paulina Street in West Town‘s East Village neighborhood. Filed under 1065 N Paulina LLC, the building will come with a rooftop deck, a rooftop stair enclosure, a rear porch on the first floor, rear decks on the second and third floors, a basement, and a three-vehicle detached garage with a rooftop deck. The project will replace a two-story gabled masonry residence, which received a demolition permit last month.

Facade Work Makes Headway at Northwestern Medicine Outpatient Center in Old Irving Park

Northwestern Medicine‘s Advanced Outpatient Care Center is making significant progress in Old Irving Park, with facade work underway. Located at 4445 W Irving Park Road, the four-story structure occupies a full city block bordered by W Irving Park Road, N Kenneth Avenue, and N Kilbourn Avenue. The 160,000-square-foot facility is set to offer a variety of outpatient services, including cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, imaging, immediate care, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, physical therapy, primary care, and urology.

Permit Issued for 4603 S St. Lawrence Avenue in Bronzeville

A construction permit has been granted for a new residential development located at 4603 S St. Lawrence Avenue in the Bronzeville neighborhood. The project will feature a four-story, three-unit masonry building, replacing a grass lot. The listed owner of the project is St. Lawrence Properties LLC.

Updated Groundbreaking Date Announced For Halsted Pointe On Goose Island

Updated construction dates have been announced for the first phase of the Halsted Pointe development at 901 N Halsted Street on Goose Island. Located on the island’s southern end near the future casino site, the multi-tower proposal will replace the existing Greyhound Bus facility. Canadian-based developer Onni Group is behind the project as well as the recently revised 357 N Green nearby, working with Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture on design and Hitchcock Design Group on the landscaping.

Facade Underway for Hugo Development in River North

Brickwork and metal paneling can now be seen undergoing installation along the two-building development known as Hugo in River North. Developer LG Group has planned for a total of 227 for-rent apartments across nearly 150,000 square feet of total floor area. Both nine stories, the larger edifice at 751 N Hudson Avenue will yield 134 new units while 411 W Chicago Avenue will yield 93 residences. The mixed-use project will also provide approximately 19,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. The two structures are almost adjacent save for an existing two-story building that lies between them.

Permit Issued for Manufacturing Building at 616 S Maplewood Avenue in Tri-Taylor

A permit has been issued for a one-story manufacturing facility at 616 S Maplewood Avenue in Tri-Taylor. The listed occupying owner, Edward J Ivy Descendants Trust, has planned for additional storage and office space. The site is currently occupied by a large grass plot.

920 N Wells Nears Completion in Near North Side

Glass and metal installation is now wrapping up for the 21-story 920 N Wells Street in Near North Side. Developed by JDL as part of the massive North Union megadevelopment, this primarily residential mixed-use building is the first step in what will be a $1.3 billion master plan covering several blocks of land previously owned by the Moody Bible Institute.

Plan Commission Approves Revised Plans For Lincoln Park Residential Development

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved revised plans for the residential development at 438 W Saint James Place in Lincoln Park. Located west of the intersection with N Lakeview Avenue near the lakefront, the proposal will replace an existing two-flat and hug the adjacent 13-story mid-rise. Now after the original plans had already been approved mid-2022, developer St. James Interest, LLC has returned with an updated design from local firm Hirsch MPG.

Permit Issued for 456 E Oakwood Boulevard in Bronzeville

A construction permit has been granted for a new residential development located at 456 E Oakwood Boulevard in Bronzeville. The project will feature a three-story masonry building with three residential units, designed to replace the previous structure on the site. The listed owner of the project is Anna Forkan.
