Both extensive foundation work and the crane base are visible at 150 E Ontario Street, the site of a new 28-story hotel by The Prime Group. The 345-foot-tall Streeterville project will be the next location for the Spanish hotel brand RIU Hotels and Resorts, providing a total of 388 rooms. There will also be a ground-level cafe at the southeast corner of the tower base.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the affordable mixed-use development at 6300 S Maryland Avenue in Woodlawn. Located on the southeast corner with S Maryland Avenue, the proposal is the first project being built under the Woodlawn Housing Preservation Ordinance which was approved in mid 2020. Dubbed Park Station, developer DL3 Realty, who is behind other projects in Woodlawn and Englewood has partnered with local firm FitzGerald Associates on the structure’s design.

We originally kicked off the series with coverage of the Hudson’s Site skyscraper earlier this year and we now return to take a look at the Exchange Building nearby at 338 Gratiot Avenue near Greektown. Developer and general contractor Barton Malow is working with global firms Thornton Tomasetti for structural engineering and Ghafari Associates on the architecture of the structure.
Work on a new outdoor patio is taking shape at 817 W Lake Street in Fulton Market. Developed by Sancerre Realty, the permanent dining and bar area will accompany the adjacent BLVD Steakhouse directly to the east.
Construction and landscaping are quickly nearing completion for 1229 W Concord Place in West Town. The eight-story biosciences office building is part of Sterling Bay‘s much larger Lincoln Yards project, which covers 55 acres and is expected to bring new commercial, residential, and recreational spaces to the north branch of Chicago River.
