Initial Plans Revealed For Bronzeville Trail Parkway

Initial plans have been revealed for a new elevated park trail spanning the length of an abandoned Kenwood CTA tracks in Bronzeville. Plans for a recreation space on the aging infrastructure have been discussed as far back as 2005 and recently started solidifying with the creation of the Bronzeville Trail Task Force (BTTF) in 2020 to begin the community outreach and fundraising efforts to execute the concept. The task force is currently working on preliminary studies and budgets while seeking a formal designer for the project as well.

Superstructure Surpasses Sixth Level for 166 N Aberdeen in Fulton Market

Now six stories high, structural work continues its climb for 166 N Aberdeen Street, a 21-story residential development in West Loop’s Fulton Market. Set to rise 241 feet and planned by development firm Greystar, this tower is one of several new additions for this cycle that will transform the Randolph Street corridor.

Funding Approved For Performance Arts Center At 4343 S Cottage Grove Avenue In Bronzeville

Funding has been approved for the construction of a new performing arts center at 4343 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Bronzeville. Located just north of the intersection with E 44th Street, the center will utilize an existing two-story masonry clad building on the Bronzeville Cultural Corridor. The project was conceptualized by local actor Harry Lennix who is working with developer Keith Giles, investor Mike Wordlaw, and local firm Nia Architects on the design of what Lennix envisions to become the “Black Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.”

Groundbreakings Announced For Two Fulton Market Projects

Potential groundbreaking have been announced for two Fulton Market projects after securing the land sale and anchor tenants this week. The two projects in question are the life sciences building at 400 N Elizabeth Street and the office building at 360 N Green Street, each led by different developers but delivering similar amounts of leasable space at each end of the quickly growing neighborhood. All together they will bring roughly 1 million square feet of new commercial space in an area poaching new leases at a faster rate than most.

Updated Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Development At 4000 W North Avenue In Humboldt Park

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 4000 W North Avenue in Humboldt Park. Dubbed Team Pioneros, the Invest South/West-winning project was presented to the Committee on Design this past week as it begins its journey towards groundbreaking. Park Row Development is working with a 100 percent Latinx-owned team led by local architecture firm JGMA who will not only be working on the design, but will be moving into the restored Pioneer Bank upon completion.

Foundation Work Progresses for Madison + Carpenter Condominiums in West Loop

Since YIMBY’s last update, additional rebar and concrete can be seen at 6 N Carpenter Street in West Loop, where developer ZSD plans for a six-story building with retail and 13 condominium residences. Having kicked off construction at the beginning of this year, the Madison + Carpenter development replaces four low-rise masonry buildings.

Extensive foundation work and a newly installed tower crane can be seen at Northwestern Medicine Advanced Outpatient Care Center at 4445 W Irving Park Road in Old Irving Park. The parcel occupies the full block bound by W Irving Park Road, N Kenneth Avenue, and N Kilbourn Avenue.

Funding And Land Sale Approved For Affordable Housing Development At 3401 W Ogden Avenue In North Lawndale

The Community Development Commission has approved funds and the land sale for a new mixed-use development at 3401 W Ogden Avenue in North Lawndale. Dubbed the Grace Manor Apartments, the new project on the corner of W Ogden Avenue and S Homan Avenue replaces a parking lot used by the nearby police station with a colorful new affordable housing structure. Co-developers East Lake Management and Jerusalem CDC tapped local architecture firm JGMA for the design of the low-rise hoping to help anchor a new wave of growth for the neighborhood.

Initial Plans Revealed For Mixed-Use Development At 535 N St. Clair Street In Streeterville

Initial details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 535 N St. Clair Street in Streeterville. Located on the northeast corner with E Grand Avenue, the new structure will replace a three-story 255-space parking garage adjacent to some low-rise commercial and mid-rise residential buildings. Developer Mavrek Development is working with local architecture firm NORR on the design of the mid-rise that will bring new life to an often overlooked intersection.
