Plans are moving forward for the mixed-use development at 1338 West Lake Street in the West Loop. Sitting on the corner of West Lake Street and North Ada Street, the project was proposed over three years ago and is set to replace the former Leslie Hindman Auctioneers complex, which is currently in the process of being demolished. Efforts are being led by developer Cedar Street Companies.
A foundation permit was issued Friday to allow Loyola University to begin construction on the new Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and the College of Arts and Sciences. Addressed in the permit as 1144 West Loyola Avenue in Rogers Park, this is the former home of Campion Hall, which was demolished last year for the new facility. The construction site occupies the entire east side of the block spanning 6550 to 6600 North Sheridan Road between Albion and Loyola Avenues, one block north of the Loyola Red Line platform.
Additional renderings and a rough timeline have been revealed for Optima Lumina at 739 Green Bay Road in Wilmette. Sitting on the corner with Washington Avenue, the project has been in the works for a few years and will replace a collection of commercial buildings next to Optima’s Verdana. Verdana was completed in 2023 and has seen increasing demand.
Zoning has been approved for a residential development set to rise at 2606 South Peoria Street in Bridgeport. Located at the intersection with West 27th Street and bounded by the Stevenson Expressway to the north, the proposal will replace a unique wedge-shaped vacant lot just a block from Palmisano Park.
