Exterior Work Nears Completion for 868 N Wells Street in Near North Side

JDL’s expansive North Union megaproject is advancing, with exterior work on the second phase’s 26-story tower at 868 N Wells Street nearing completion. Rising to a height of 305 feet, this Near North Side high-rise will replace a former low-rise brick building, offering a mix of 411 apartment units and 12,000 square feet of retail space. This project follows closely on the heels of the first phase’s completion, a 21-story apartment tower at 920 N Wells Street.

Obama Presidential Center Nears Full Height in Jackson Park

Construction is nearing full height for the Obama Presidential Center at 6000 S Stony Island Avenue in Jackson Park. The center, spearheaded by the Obama Foundation, will replace a portion of the park that formerly housed a football field, situated southwest of the Museum of Science and Industry. The architectural design is a collaborative effort between Interactive Design Architects and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, while the landscape architecture is being handled by a team consisting of Living Habitats, Site Design Group, and Michael van Valkenburg Associates.
