City Fully Approves Bally’s Casino With Revisions In River West

Key city approvals have been granted for the upcoming Bally’s Casino at 777 W Chicago Avenue in River West. The approvals came from both City Council and Plan Commission that have now fully cleared the project to move forward within the city, with the last hurdle being the upcoming vote from the Illinois Gaming Board. Rhode Island-based Bally’s famously won the long bidding competition earlier this year and committed to creating their flagship property in the city with local architecture firm SCB working on its design and Site Design Group on landscape.

741 N Wells Street Claims 19th Spot In Year-End Countdown

Coming in at the 17th spot in this year’s countdown is the mixed-use development at 741 N Wells Street in River North. Located just south of the intersection with W Chicago Avenue, the project replaces a one-story commercial building that previously held a furniture store and was demolished to make way for the quickly growing Wells Street canyon. Developer Vista Property Group, who recently proposed 640 W Randolph Street in West Loop Gate, used the same team from Antunovich Associates on this design as well.

166 N Aberdeen Street Ranks 18th in Countdown as Construction Wraps Up in Fulton Market

With the last of the exterior wrapping up, construction is coming to a close for 166 N Aberdeen Street, aka One Six Six. This 21-story mixed-use tower by Greystar marks the 18th tallest construction project in the city, rising 224 feet in height. Now standing its full 224-foot height, the high rise is set to house 224 rental apartments atop ground-level retail.

Affordable Apartments For Middle-Income Proposed In Near North Side

Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 1549 N Fremont Street in the Near North Side. Located just south of the intersection with W North Avenue, the U-shaped structure will replace a surface parking lot surrounded by the multi-story Toyota dealership garage with an outer wall that partially collapsed this year after a windstorm. Local developer CityPads Chicago, responsible for other residential buildings in the city, is leading the project for which the architect is currently unknown.
