Crane Down, Glass Up at JDL’s One Chicago

Since YIMBY’s construction tour of One Chicago in July, the tower crane has been disassembled and the parapet completed for the taller east tower of the massive two-tower development in River North. The aforementioned near-supertall stands 76 stories and 971 feet, while the shorter west tower reaches 49 stories and 574 feet. Both skyscrapers are connected via a 10-story podium that occupies most of the block bound by W Chicago Avenue, N State Street, W Superior Street, and N Dearborn Street. JDL is the developer of the 2.1 million-square-foot complex, having begun construction in 2019.

Rezoning Filed For Mixed-Use Development At 2841 W Belmont Avenue In Avondale

Developer Wilmot Construction, Inc has filed a zoning change application with the Committee on Zoning for a mixed-use development at 2841 W Belmont Avenue in Avondale. Wilmot is teaming up with Hanna Architects to bring the new five-story building to the ever-growing neighborhood. Bound by W Belmont Avenue to the north and an existing one-story auto repair shop to the west, its eastern neighbor would be a new five-story residential development called The Avondale also being developed by Wilmot.

Partial Construction Permit Issued for 4611 N Broadway in Uptown

A permit has been issued for the foundation and first two floors of 4611 N Broadway, a nine-story mixed-use building planned in Uptown. Prior to construction, the site was occupied by two single-story masonry buildings, which were demolished earlier this year.

Metal Paneling Installed at 932 W Randolph Street in Fulton Market

Exterior work is rapidly approaching the finish line for a three-story mixed-use commercial redevelopment project at Fulton Market‘s 932 W Randolph Street. As part of the redevelopment, developer L3 Capital is re-skinning the former bank building and adding a new three-story addition at the northern end of the property.

Revised Plans Revealed For Residential Development At 2414 N Sawyer Avenue In Logan Square

Developer P3 Properties reveals updated plans for a residential building at 2414 N Sawyer Avenue in Logan Square. The unique lot which is surrounded by alleys on all three sides is wedged between a multi-story courtyard building to the north, and a one-story Social Security office building to the south where N Sawyer Avenue meets W Fullerton Avenue. The lot which has remained vacant for over 50 years is being developed by P3 Properties in collaboration with McGrath Architects as a co-developer and designer of the project.

Permit Issued for 830 N Marshfield Avenue in West Town

A new construction permit has been issued for 830 N Marshfield Avenue in West Town, set to yield a new three-story residential building with three apartments. The owner, listed as The Alverna Group LLC, has planned for a basement level, a roof deck, a stairway rear open deck, an open porch, and a detached one-story, three-car garage with its own rooftop deck.

A Look at the Completed 2145 S Halsted Street in Pilsen

Construction has completed for a new four-story mixed-use development at 2145 S Halsted Street in Pilsen. Developed by Vision Group Investments and situated just north of Halsted & Cermak, the building provides 1,900 square feet retail space on the ground floor, along with six apartments on the upper three floors.

Partial Construction Permit Issued for 23-Story 808 N Cleveland in Near North Side

A foundation and partial superstructure permit has been issued for a new 23-story high rise at 808 N Cleveland Avenue in Near North Side. The nearly 300,000-square-foot mixed-use building will replace a vacant lot on the block bound by Cambridge, Chicago, and Cleveland Avenues.

Foundation Work Continues for 164 N Peoria Street in Fulton Market District

Caisson and other foundation work continues for the 43-story 906 W Randolph Street, which will dramatically alter Fulton Market District‘s skyline when complete. Set to stand 495 feet in West Loop, the new edifice has been planned by Tucker Development alongside Related Midwest.

Parks District Opens New Visitor Center At Big Marsh Park In South Deering

The Chicago Parks District has opened a new visitor and nature center at Big Marsh Park in South Deering. Located at 11555 S Stony Island Avenue, the new center marks a major milestone for the South Side park with a 297-acre size that rivals Grant Park and is one of the largest properties in the urban park district.
