Construction permits have been applied for with the city for the mixed-use development at 566 W Van Buren Street in West Loop Gate. Sitting on the corner with S Jefferson Street, the project was first announced last year when it received permits for and proceeded with the demolition of two building’s on the site. The Antunovich Associates-designed structure is being proposed by a team made up of Riverside Investment and Blue Star Properties.

Initial demolition permits have been issued for the mixed-use development at 566 W Van Buren Street in West Loop Gate. Located on the northeast corner with S Jefferson Street, the new structure will replace a large surface parking lot along with two existing commercial buildings dating back to the 1890s. Led by co-developers Riverside Investment and Blue Star Properties, the project is being designed by Antunovich Associates who worked on the recently completed 609 W Randolph Street nearby in a similar industrial style.
Another residential build is coming to the West Loop. Riverside Investment & Development is partnering with Blue Star Properties to co-develop a 14-story building with plans for 198 units to be located at 566 W Van Buren Street. The project is planned for the northeast intersection of Jefferson and Van Buren. The lot is currently occupied by a parking lot and two retail buildings.
A new 1.5-acre urban park has opened at 320 S Canal Street in West Loop Gate. This new space designed by Confluence was built in tandem with the new 52-story BMO Tower that has been developed by Riverside Investment & Development and Convexity Properties. The design of the tower itself was envisioned by Chicago-based firm Goettsch Partners.
Both landscaping and facade work are nearing completion for the 52-story 320 S Canal Street, aka BMO Tower, located near the southern end of West Loop Gate. This 727-foot-tall office tower has been co-developed by Riverside Investment & Development and Convexity Properties.
