This week, YIMBY attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for 345 N Morgan Street, an 11-story mixed-use building in Fulton Market District. This new development features new ground-level retail topped by offices on the upper floors. Continuing the trend of high-amenity, high-flexibility office space to be built in Fulton Market, the 200,000 square-foot structure highlights the neighborhood’s increasing densification and expanding urban footprint. Although only 11 floors, the 178-foot-tall development by Sterling Bay still measures up to many of the surrounding projects and planned developments.

New Permits Issued For Residential Conversion Of St. Boniface Church In West Town

New permits have been issued for the residential conversion of the St. Boniface church at 1356 W Chestnut Street in West Town. Located on the northeast corner with N Noble Street, the long-standing church will finally see work begin on its units after multiple years of setbacks which involved the preservation of some interior elements previously set to be removed. Developer ZSD Corp is leading the project and working with SPACE Architects + Planners on this first phase of work.

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a mixed-use development at 330 W Chestnut Street in the Near North Side. Located on the northeast corner with N Orleans Street, the vacant site was occasionally used for outdoor fitness classes and as a parking lot over the last two years. Developers Draper & Kramer and BlitzLake Partners have tapped local architecture firm FitzGerald Associates on the design for the structure that will be near the upcoming North Union mega-development.
