Home Court At The Obama Presidential Center Has Begun Construction

The Home Court at the Obama Presidential Center is under construction at 6121 South Stony Avenue in the Woodlawn Community Area. The two-story athletic and event facility occupies the southwest corner of the sprawling construction site in Jackson Park, just west of Wooded Island and its West Lagoon. Moody Nolan designed the building for The Obama Foundation. Elevated Design Builders, a team formed by BOWA Construction and AECOM/Hunt, is the general contractor.

City Council Approves Redevelopment Of 4528 S Cottage Grove Avenue In Bronzeville

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use redevelopment of the three-story structure at 4528 S Cottage Grove Avenue in Bronzeville. Sitting just south of the intersection with E 45th Street, the building is a few doors down from 4508 S Cottage Grove which we covered a few days ago. The proposal is being led by Sunshine Management and Tigist Reda.

City Council Approves 1200 W Fulton Street In Fulton Market District

The Chicago City Council has approved the multiphase mixed-use development at 1200 W Fulton Street within the Fulton Market District. Bounded by N Racine Avenue to the east and W Carroll Avenue to the north, we covered the proposal just a few weeks ago as it also gained approval from the Plan Commission.

2127-2129 North Damen Avenue demolitions

With Pair Of Workers Cottages Demolished, 2129 North Damen Avenue Construction Begins In Bucktown

Two workers cottages have been demolished, and now construction work is underway, for a new residential development in the Bucktown neighborhood at 2129 North Damen Avenue. The cottages, both likely built in the 1900s-1910s, were permitted for demolition on September 6, and were torn down soon after. Once demo contractor DemoX was finished removing rubble, general contractor BM UK Enterprise Company got to work on the new build. The entity of Development Group LLC Fulton Market Branch is named in the new construction permit, issued August 19, as the developer.

Site Prep Is Underway At 453 West Briar Place In Lake View

Site prep has begun for a new multi-family residential development at 453 West Briar Place in Lake View. The five-story, six-unit condominium project is being built by Chicago’s GVP Development. They got a new construction permit back on May 21 for the property. And now, dirt is being ushed around in anticipation of getting foundation work started, which was permitted separately in November of 2023.

Exterior Work At 840 West Lill Avenue Making Rapid Progress In Lincoln Park

A three-story, two-unit luxury condominium building at 840 West Lill Avenue in Lincoln Park continues to make rapid progress toward completion. The previous residence on the site, a single-family farmhouse that was built in 1860 and sold in May of this year, was demolished in July, with work on the new homes getting started before August began.

Residential Development Proposed At 2212 S Leavitt Street In Lower West Side

Details have been revealed for the residential development at 2212 S Leavitt Street within the Lower West Side. Sitting just south of the intersection with W Cermak Road, the proposal will replace an existing surface parking lot just west of Pilsen. The project is being led by Teo Scorte of Green Street Property Management.

Zoning Committee Approves Multi-Generational Development In Washington Park

The Chicago Committee on Zoning has approved the elderly residential development at 5300 S Calumet Avenue in Washington Park. Sitting on the corner with E 53rd Street, the proposal will replace a vacant lot across the street from another property owned by its developers The Renaissance Collaborative (TRC).

3605 North Ravenswood Lays Concrete For The First Floor in North Center

Ground-level construction progress continues for 3605 North Ravenswood in North Center. Everything we need to know about this new residential project is listed on the banner hanging from the construction fence. There will be 52 rental units across the six-story building (five stories plus rooftop access to the sixth-floor amenity deck) with 5,500 square feet of retail space at ground level. Co-developers Stocking Urban and Macon Construction Group, who is also the general contractor, plan to welcome their first tenants in the fall of 2025.

Additional Funding Approved For Affordable Development At 9200 S Burley Avenue In South Chicago

Updated details have been revealed as the Chicago City Council approves partial funding for the mixed-use development at 9200 S Burley Avenue in South Chicago. The proposal is located on the southwest corner with E 92nd Street not too far from the Calumet River and the 93rd Street station of the Metra Electric line.
