Plans are moving forward for the mixed-use development at 5050 South Prairie Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located on the corner of East 51st Street, the new structure will replace a pair of commercial buildings along with a vacant, city-owned lot. The effort is being led by KLY Development in partnership with the Rockford-based 1919 Architects.
Getting around in the River West neighborhood is a chore these days. That’s all thanks to the ambitious project underway to rebuild the Halsted Street viaduct and replace the Chicago Avenue Bridge over the river.
Three permits issued on December 2 will allow construction on a vacant corner lot at South Prairie Avenue and East 46th Street in Grand Boulevard. 4603, 4605, and 4607 South Prairie will all be three-story, three-unit buildings. Permit applications were all filed on September 22, and all three were issued on December 2 with reported costs of $440,000 apiece.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the affordable housing development at 2120 North Mozart Street in Palmer Square. Located at the corner of West Shakespeare Avenue, the project will redevelop the former home of the Humboldt Park Methodist Church. The effort is being led by the Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA).
Details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 7644 North Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. Located at the intersection with North Rogers Avenue, the project will replace two structures, including a two-story commercial building. The proposal is being led by 5T Development Partners along with local firm SEEK Design + Architecture.
