Foundation Pile Permit Issued For Chicago Fire Stadium In The South Loop

The first permit has been issued by the City of Chicago to begin construction on the Chicago Fire’s new stadium in the South Loop. Assigned to the address of 1331 South Wells Street, the permit allows for piles to be driven for the stadium. More specifically, piles for vertical penetration only, for the four-story soccer stadium’s foundations. The permit came through the Chicago Data Portal on Friday, March 20 with a reported cost of $5 million. It had been pending since October 24.

Plan Commission Approves Residential Development In West Loop

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential proposal at 1201 West Kinzie Street in the West Loop. Located at the corner of North Racine Avenue, the development will replace a vacant lot bounded by Metra tracks to the south. Efforts are being led by LG Group in partnership with Dirk Denison Architects.

Hotel Conversion Proposed For Burnham Center In The Loop

Initial details have been revealed for the potential hotel conversion of the Burnham Center at 111 West Washington Street in The Loop. Located on the corner of West Washington Street and across from Daley Plaza, the historic landmark dates back to 1913 and currently serves as an office building with a 23 percent occupancy rate.

Enlarged Plans Revealed For 2800 North Sheridan Road In Lake View

Just under a month ago, we covered the project’s initial plans along West Diversey Parkway. Now, the team has returned with added density and additional uses to improve the streetfront—an approach that has become uncommon as of late.

Commercial Leasing Begins For Thompson Center Redevelopment

Additional interior renderings and a new website have been revealed for the ongoing redevelopment of the Thompson Center at 100 West Randolph Street in The Loop. The iconic structure dates back to 1985 but had long been plagued by maintenance issues, until a group of local developers partnered with Google to remodel and reposition the property.

Plans Approved For Mixed-Use Development In McKinley Park

Plans have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 3188 South Archer Avenue in McKinley Park. Located near the intersection with South Wood Street and bound by the Stevenson Expressway to the north, the proposal will replace a large vacant lot often used as a junkyard. Efforts are being led by SkyRiver Archer Development LLC.

Located near the intersection with North Sacramento Avenue and just steps from Horner Park, the proposal would replace a pair of existing mixed-use buildings whose ground-floor retail space has been vacated.

Plan Commission Approves The Phoenix In Lake View East

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved plans for the mixed-use development known as “The Phoenix” at 3611 North Halsted Street in Lake View East. Located just north of the intersection with West Addison Street, the low-rise would add to a string of new developments in the North Halsted area, including two recently proposed hotels.

City Council Approves Multi-Building Development In Bronzeville

The Chicago City Council has approved plans for the residential development at 3746 to 3766 South Michigan Avenue in Bronzeville. Sitting just south of the intersection with East 37th Place, the multi-building project will replace a vacant lot in the quickly growing and changing neighborhood, just north of where a new hotel and museum were recently announced.

Plans Revealed For Hotel And Community Hub In Bronzeville

Plans have been revealed for a new workforce training and community hub at 4417 South State Street in Bronzeville. Located on the corner of East 44th Street, the proposal would replace the long-vacant McCorkle Elementary School. The campus will be known as the Technology Renewable Energy Command Center Global Campus for Youth & Families.
