Demolition Permit Issued for 1528 N Wells Hotel Project in Old Town

A planned 12-story hotel at 1528 N Wells Street in Old Town is once again progressing, as indicated by a recent demolition permit issued for the site’s remaining structure. The permit, granted at the beginning of this month, lists National Wrecking Company as the contractor and will involve the removal of a three-story building at 1520 N Wells Street. The replacement hotel, which received its initial foundation permit in 2022, will add 203 rooms along the Wells Street commercial corridor.

Further Details Revealed For Diplomat Motel Renovation To Transitional Housing

Further details have been revealed for the conversion of the Diplomat Motel at 5230 N Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Square. Sitting on the northern edge of the neighborhood, we covered its initial city approval into transitional housing mid-last year. The project is being developed between the city and the Department of Public Health, with Gensler working on its design.

Further Renderings And Details Revealed For New Sox Stadium In The 78

Formal renderings have been revealed along with new details for the proposed White Sox stadium within The 78. Located on the massive 62-acre vacant lot along the Chicago River and near the South Loop, the team will relocate from their current home at Guaranteed Rate Field near Bridgeport. The proposal is being led by the team and developer Related Midwest with an undisclosed architect.

Facade Work Advances for 1801 W Grand Avenue in West Town

The exterior cladding of a new mixed-use building at 1801 W Grand Avenue in West Town is well underway. This five-story development, managed by Planrise LLC, is located on a corner lot at the intersection of W Grand Avenue and N Wood Street.

Final Exterior Construction Spotted for Ogden Haus Residences in West Town

The construction of the six-story mixed-use building at 613 N Ogden Avenue in the West Town area is progressing, with exterior work wrapping up and balcony installation underway. Urban Edge Group is overseeing both the development and construction of this project, known as ‘Ogden Haus’. Located adjacent to a similar six-story structure to the north, the building will accommodate nine condominium units above ground-level retail space and feature an 11-space garage equipped with an elevator for residence access.

Updated Details Revealed For 400 N Elizabeth Street In Fulton Market

Updated details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 400 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market. The unique wedge shaped site is bound by N Ogden Avenue to the west, W Kinzie Street to the south, and rail tracks to the north. The new concept is being developed by Mark Goodman & Associates with local architecture firm Archeo Design Studio working on its design.

Structural Work Progresses for Damen Green Line Station in Near West Side

Construction of the Damen Green Line Station continues at 2001 W Lake Street in the Near West Side, under the management of the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Initiated in 2017, the project has faced delays and a budget increase, now totaling $80.2 million. This development aims to reintroduce rail service to an area that has lacked it since the original station’s demolition in 1948. The original Damen Green Line station, constructed in 1893, was ultimately demolished 55 years later, alongside nine other stations, due to decreased demand and the CTA’s efforts to improve service efficiency.

Westhaven Park IID Tops Out in Near West Side

Situated at the corner of N Damen Avenue and W Lake Street, this mixed-use building is adjacent to the upcoming CTA Damen Green Line station. The project is a joint venture involving Brinshore Development, The Michaels Organization, and the Chicago Housing Authority, with architectural design by LBBA Architects.

Sitting on the intersection with W Kinzie Street, the project recently received some revisions as it was presented to the community last month. The proposal is being led by Miami-based developer Crescent Heights with local firm HPA working on its design.
