A five-story residential development at 1613 W Belmont Avenue in Lake View has been granted a construction permit. The new development will host 11 residential units, each with ground floor balconies and additional balconies on the second through fourth floors, as well as a roof deck. An automatic sprinkler system and a rear wood fence are notable aspects of the construction, as outlined in the submitted plans. 1613 W Belmont LLC owns the project and will replace a one-story retail building.

Cassidy on Canal Facade Nears Roofline in Fulton River District

Facade installation at “Cassidy on Canal,” a 33-story mixed-use development in Fulton River District, is nearing completion at 350 N Canal Street. A joint project by The Habitat Company and Diversified Real Estate Capital LLC, the 355-foot-tall structure recently topped out.

Permit Issued for 5847 W Corcoran Place in Austin

A construction permit has been issued for a new residential development located at 5847 W Corcoran Place in the Austin neighborhood. The two-story building will feature a total of three apartment units with a basement level, front stairs and porch, a rear two-story deck, and stairs, as well as a side six-foot-tall wood fence, and a rear three-vehicle parking pad, as detailed in the plans. The project replaces what is currently a vacant lot. The listed owner of the project is A-Z Builders Inc., while the architect for the project is Andy Kacprzynski.

Developer Unveils Plans for 420 N May Street to West Loop Neighbors

Updated plans have been revealed for the mixed-use skyscraper at 420 N May Street in the West Loop. Located on the northwest corner with W Kinzie Street, the proposal will replace a couple of existing structures and their adjacent parking lot. Miami-based developer Crescent Heights presented the HPA-designed plans to the community at a meeting earlier this week. The developer also recently placed the parcel earmarked for NEMA phase II in the South Loop for sale.

New Howard Brown Health Center Wraps Up Construction in Lakeview East

Exterior construction has concluded at 3501 N Halsted Street, a five-story mixed-use building in Lakeview East. The building will soon function as a central location for Howard Brown Health, a group dedicated to offering a broad spectrum of care for Chicago’s LGBTQ community.

Permit Issued for 5416 N Winthrop Avenue in Edgewater

A new four-story residential building has received a permit in the Edgewater neighborhood. This eight-unit structure, developed by PFH Homes, will replace a vacant lot. According to the Edgewater Historical Society, a late-19th-century, two-story frame residence once stood at the site, but was demolished in 2007.

1649 N Halsted in Lincoln Park Approved by Plan Commission

The mixed-use development for 1649 N Halsted Street in Lincoln Park has received approval from the Chicago Plan Commission. Draper & Kramer is behind this initiative to replace the Royal George Theater and its neighboring structure atop the 0.8-acre site. Envisioned by SGW Architecture & Design, the project will see the rise of a nine-story building with a top floor dedicated to amenity areas and open rooftop space.

Plan Commission Approves Fifth Third Arena Expansion In Near West Side

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the expansion of the Fifth Third Arena at 301 S Damen Avenue in the Near West Side. Originally revealed earlier this year, the new construction will rise adjacent to the existing training center and replace a vacant lot. The development comes directly from Chicago Blackhawks with Kansas City-based Generator Studio on its design.

A construction permit has been granted for a new residential development located at 2528 W Monroe Street in the Near West Side. The project will feature a three-story frame building, providing a total of three dwelling units and three concrete parking pads. The owner of the project is listed as JRD LLC – 2530.

Plan Commission Approves Affordable Housing Development In Lower West Side

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the affordable housing development at 2136 S Ashland Avenue in the Lower West Side. Located just north of the intersection with W Cermak Road, we first covered the proposal in January which will be replacing a vacant lot across the street from Benito Juarez High School. Dubbed ‘Casa Yucatan’, the structure is being developed by The Resurrection Project who are working with local architecture firm DesignBridge on it.
